ships awarded by community organizations. Guidance counselor Joyce Brown keeps track of the deadlines and conditions for all of these. She helps students select the ones they have the best chance of winning and reminds them of what they need to do to qualify.
Most of the scholarships are available for only the first year. Mrs. Brown says students need to go to the financial aid offices in the colleges they attend to find out what help may available for later years.
Scholarship recipients are notified at graduation. Mrs. Brown said she is very pleased with the amount of scholarship money Rappahannock organizations and individuals make available to county graduates to help them continue their education.
