This will be the 15th year for this outing, a joint endeavor of the Rapidan Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the Virginia Department of Inland Fisheries, and landowner Jimmy Graves of Graves Mountain Lodge.
Several hundred youngsters enjoy this program and many catch fish, some even their legal limit of six trout.
Adults may accompany the children but cannot fish. Members of Trout Unlimited will be on hand to aid novice anglers. Children should bring their own tackle and bait. Almost any light freshwater gear will do, and worms, cheese balls and salmon eggs are popular opening-day baits.
