With no voting machines in the county she is anticipating a long night in November, County voters will be facing at least three ballots, one for the General Assembly, one for constitutional officers, and one for Board of Supervisors and School Board. is too much "good old boy politics” in county government. "When people stay in one job too long, they become part of the system,” Mr. Welch added.
He said he is personally friendly with Mr. Gilkey and that his decisibn to seek a seat on the board is not related to the sludge suit filed against the county. His brother Dale Welch was one of the plaintiffs in that suit.
He said the county must be “very careful” in planning for growth. “I like the rural nature of the county,” he said. “I want to see it remain that way...If you look at Culpeper, Fauquier and Warren (counties) you see disasters.
