Quaintance Jr.
Dr. Rupert W, Quaintance Jr., 71, died at home on May 16 after a long illness.
He was bom on May 31, 1923, in Lundale, W.Va., the son of Dr. R.W.Quaintance and Bessie Ramsey Quaintance, both of whom are now deceased.
He attended elementary and middle schools in Lundale and Man, W.Va. and The University of Richmond, Richmond graduating from the latter institution in 1945 with a BA Degree.
This was followed by the study of medicine at the University of Virginia , School of Medicine, Charlottesville by which he was awarded the Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1950. His internship was served at the Indianapolis General Hospital from 1950 to 1951.
On March 14, 1951, Dr. Quaintance was married to Virginia Neligh, a registered nurse of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dr. Quaintance began the private practice of Medicine as the ^General Practitioner in Culpeper in 1951, inaugurating a career which extended for 30 years, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, father and uncle who also practiced medicine in the Culpeper area for many years.
Dr. Quaintance served many clients in the Rappahannock area.
He served on the staffs of the Fauquier and Culpeper hospitals, and as President of the Medical Staff of the Culpeper Memorial Hospital from 1962 to 1964. He also served as President of the Culpeper Medical Society, and was designated as a Fellow in American Academy of Family Physicians.
