He and his wife of 25 years, Geneva, have two children, Ryan, a student at Lord Fairfax Community College, and Courtney, a high school junior. He has been active in the Rappahannock Lions Club and athletic Booster Club. He has also helped out with the Flint Hill Fire Department fund raising.
Sam Snead said he is seeking a seat on the School Board “to try to better our school system and t^y to provide the best we can for our kids.”
He said a good education is becoming more important than ever before and the county needs to do a better job of preparing students for college.
He said he feels Piedmont District’s representative on the School Board Frances Thornton “has been doing a wonderful job. She gives of her time and finances to kids who are not as fortunate as others. 1 was disappointed (she) decided not to run.”
Mr. Snead also said he feels Dennis Wingfield is “a fine man. The democratic process is good. I see nothing wrong with competition,” he said.
He said he had a copy of the school system budget for next year, but had not had time to look over it carefully. “People are in a mind frame to cut budgets,” he said. “We need to take a real hard look at it. There may be things we don’t need.” He would like to see more programs that push stu
