Amissviile Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department’s annual carnival is set for June 21-24. Family night is Wednesday. Parade will be held Thursday evening, June 22. To enter, call J.B. Carter, 937-4218. Crowning of the queen, Jr. Miss and Little Miss will be held Friday night. To enter call Sandi Carter at 937-4218. Cash prize drawings will be held Saturday night. Prizes include $1,000, $500, two S50’s, and two $25. Tickets are SI and may be purchased from contestants or department members.

Hartland Institute begins a cooking class and nutrition seminar at the Jeffersonton Community Center today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The seminar will be held also tomorrow, May 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. and next Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For details call Cathy at 937-5024. No pre-registration required. Cost is $20. Those unable to attend complete seminar may pay $5 per session.

The seminar is being sponsored by the Amissviile Health and Fitness group which meets each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon at Amissviile United Methodist Church. Anyone desiring to lose weight or improve their health are welcome to attend.
