I he Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) is gearing up for its first venture at running the Fourth of July celebration for the town of Washington and is seeking additional Piedmont area artists to display homemade crafts at this year’s 20th annual celebration.
In previous years, the local volunteer fire department ran the event, but RAAC agreed that its charter to promote the arts and skills of the area, and its philosophy of service to the community, made this a perfect event for its sponsorship.
In an effort to feature local artists with quality pieces, the vendor committee of RAAC has set new requirements for participation in the annual craft show on Gay Street. All artists must submit an application and photos of their work. All entries are being judged by the members of the RAAC vendor committee to insure that artists of the Piedmont area are given priority and that only homemade articles will be on display.
RAAC is accepting applications until June 15 from artists who wish to display their crafts such as pottery/ceramics, lithography, jewelry, watercolors/oil paints aery lies, textiles/needlework and basketweaving. For application and additional information, contact Eileen Dav at 675-319.
