By WAYNE F. BALDWIN Clyde W. and Lillie Dwyer Pullen were honored on Sunday, May 7 with a party at the Flint Hill Fire Hall. The occasion was the celebration of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. The affair being held in Flint Hill because the late Rev. P.H. Chelf united them in marriage at this place on May 8, 1935. One hundred five family, friends and relatives came together to celebrate with them. Some old musical favorites were played and a banquet prepared by the family. Lots of nice gifts were given the couple and many cards of congratulations were received, particularly one from President and Mrs. Clinton. A poem was written by one of the grandchildren which reads as follows: To Clyde and Lillie Pullen: On Their Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary; May 8, 1995 By WAYNE F. BALDWIN Let met set the time and scene... Times had been hard and wages lean, The Great Depression was but five years past. But things were changing at last. A young man and woman, from hearty mountain stock. Were in love and dared tie the wedding knot. He was eighteen, tall, blue eyed and stout, She was sixteen; dainty and shy, with just a hint of a pout. They hired Edgar Nicols and his Model A, they rode in the rumple seat. Such a sight they must have been all dressed up and neat. Her is new shoes and blue dress, all costing less than ten dollars. It was probably one of their first adventures out from the hills and hollows.
