Also hard hit was Route 630 in Flint Hill near Foster’s Packing Shed.
On Tuesday, Delegate Jay Katzen said he would be contacting Congressman Wolf and Virginia’s senators to see about having Rappahannock County declared a disaster area so that its residents can receive help from the federal government. Also on Tuesday, Mr. Katzen spoke with George O’N. Urquhart of the Dept, of Emergency Services in Richmond, who will be visiting the county on Thursday with a FEMA employee to inspect evaluate damages in the county.
In Harris Hollow, said Ron Marshall, VDOT Chief, “The road was so gutted, there was no road.” In several places, the river ran right down the road. At Mountain Green Farm owned by the Sharp family, not far from the intersection of Routes 622 and<624, the river split in two and ran through the Sharps’ front pasture. Their bridge, like several private bridges in the county, was decimated.
