By SHARON KILPATRICK * . Rappahannock News Staff Writer ; The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on several proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance that would bar a number of commercial uses from agricultural and conservation zones at their July 19 meeting.
Wakefield District representative Werner Krebser suggested several months ago that the commission restrict some uses allowed by special use permit or special exception and ban others from agricultural zones altogether.
Those now allowed that would be banned include post offices, antique/gift shops, museums, and auction establishments.

Adopts Budget
Last Wednesday the Washington Town Council unanimously approved a 1996 town budget of $133,800 and a water budget of $45,500, for a total consolidated budget of $179,300. . The town budget is $9,800 higher than the revised 1995 budget, and the water budget is $6,500 less than the previous year.
Total expenses include $34,050 for administration; $32,360 for capital reserves; $12,200 for contributions; $25,700 for employee expenses.
