The bridges at Rock Mills received less damage than they have in many other floods. A bridge near the intersection of Route 647 and 637 in Flint Hill was passable by last Thursday, and Route 634 off of Route 211 near Chester Gap was passable last week but only with a 4-wheel drive.
The employees of VDOT have been working from daylight to sundown every day since the flood, including Saturday and Sunday. They had off on July 4 but the contractors did work that day. Mr. Marshall said that the VDOT headquarters from Warrenton, Bealeton

and Marshall have also sent employees to help, and they have hired private contractors. “I don’t think people realize the extent of the damage we had...it’s a matter of getting enough help to do what we need to do. If we just used the state forces we would be up into fall trying to complete this job.”
Late Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Ennis Jenkins of VDOT reported that all county roads are passable, but drivers should use caution on the roads which received the most damage. Also, the bridge on Route 729 remains to be rebuilt.
