one year ago. Once she has a little information about the child the book is for, she can add that information to the text of the book, such as the child’s name, and, according to the book chosen, the town the child lives in, pets’ names, friends’ names and family members’ names.
Using her computer, Ms. Wine fills in the blanks in the text with the names, prints out the pages, and assembles the book. Everything is proofread and quality is checked before the final assembly, which takes place in Ms. Wine’s office at home, from printing to binding. One book title, I Can Fly, was put together as an example. It is filled with charming illustrations and is 35 pages long.
The front page of the books for the first graders will list the names of all sponsors who contributed to the books. Businesses who buy sponsorships can deduct their contribution as a business expense, said Ms. Wine.
Two book titles will be available to the first graders: Where in the Zoo and either Teddy Bear Fair or I Can Fly. When the books are delivered, they will come with a Parent Pack which will include a list of suggested activities, topics td explore or related books to read. Ms. Wine said that the goal of the parent pack is to give parents some ideas to explore further. There is a different parent pack for each book.
Ms. Wine also sells her books at craft shows. She hopes to get a lap top computer to take with her instead of transporting her large computer around.
