Our community extends congratulations to Donald Robert Deal who graduated with a bachelor of architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in May. Rob is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald K. Deal and has accepted a position in Kentucky JohnsonRomanwitz Architects.
“Attracting Birds and Butterflies” was the topic of the program presented by Betty Jones at the Salem Garden Club meeting on Saturday at the home of Mrs. Harlean Smoot.
Mr, and Mrs. Danny Sims, Erin, Corey, Patrick and Brem from New Jersey were here for the weekend with Mrs. Sims parents, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Butler. Paul Butler, U.S. Navy from Norfolk joined the family here on Friday for the day and returned again on Sunday.
At the Ferrum College commencement ceremony, one of our young ladies was in the graduating class of 170 students, namely Miss Candy Michelle Brown who received a B.S. degree in physical education. Miss Brown is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Grant, local, and the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Bessie Atkins of Sperryville and we send out hearty congratulations.
