We’re so very proud of Mrs. Doris Tolbert Jennings. She was recently selected as “1995 Woman of the Year” by the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association’s Women’s Auxiliary. She was chosen among women from 53 churches. Mrs. Jennings will be 99 Sept. 4 and still lives alone. She’s a fascinating person.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Kirk Davis who drowned in the flood waters of the Rush River on Tuesday. Our area had about 10 inches of rain on Tuesday alone. I understand there were over 200 roads and bridges closed, including Route 29 to Charlottesville.
There was an excellent writeup in last week’s Rappahannock News on the Dixie Meadows Farm, featuring a zebra, white donkey, water buffaloes, and Brahman cattle. Photos also included Helen Dixon and her granddaughter, Melissa Dixon.
Amissville Homemakers Club will hold its annual picnic Monday evening, July 10 at the home of Emiel and Lynda Smet on Indian Run Road, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Meat and drinks will be provided.
