In Rappahannock County Circuit Court on Monday, Michael G. Robinson, 19, of Gainesville, was sentenced to five years on a charge of grand larceny.
He had pled guilty to stealing 19 knives from the home of Larry Kommes, where he had been working as a painter. The sentence, however, was suspended .by Judge Selwyn Smith, and Mr. Robinson was ordered to be on five years of supervised probation instead.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke argued that Mr. Robinson should be given some jail time. He said that according to Mr. Robinson’s pre-sentencing report, he had accumulated quite an extensive criminal record in just slightly over a year. Mr. Luke said that Mr. Robinson had two prior concealed weapon charges, one in Fauquier and one in Prince William County. Both had to do with the knives which he had taken from Mr. Kommes;
