The Monarchs kept this lead through the fourth inning, but in the Edinburg fifth, Timmy Palmer reached on an error. Todd Miller, Edinburg’s next batter, promptly laced a triple to center scoring Palmer. Miller later scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game.
Edinburg took the lead in the seventh. Palmer led off the inning and reached on an error, again. He scored the go-ahead run with two out on a single by Bobby Drummond. Edinburg added an insurance run in the eighth when Wayne Harper scored on Jimmy Harper’s triple.
