Judge Smith agreed to restore Mr. Meredith’s driving privileges, but cautioned him to not go out and get drunk and get behind the wheel of a car. He also told Mr. Meredith he should marry his girlfriend, especially since they had children.
A jury trial will take place on October 19 for Thomas J. Zelko, 54, of Casanova. Mr. Zelko is charged with practicing a profession or occupation without holding a valid license from the Commonwealth of Virginia Board for Contractors. According to the court file, Mr. Zelko contracted with Frederick H. Kahler and Mary H. Speer in Castleton in 1993 to supervise and consult during construction on their property.
Peter Luke asked that capies for two men who have absconded remain outstanding. Mr. Luke said that James C. Crawford, 21, took off while the court was awaiting a pre-sentence report. Mr. Crawford had been found guilty of petit larceny.
John Joseph Messick, 31, has also absconded, according to Mr. Luke. He had pled guilty to a bad check felony in December, 1985.
