Caroline Shultz, chapter manager, said the money will be used for “helping people get their lives back together.”
She said the Red Cross would be prividing groceries, clothing, furniture, linens, stress counselling, funds for medical needs, and money for temporary shelter such as rent and rental deposits.
The Red Cross has set up a service center in the Madison County Middle School , Ms. Shultz said. People need to come by and let them know of their needs or call 948-2213. There is also a toll-free Red Cross number to enable people to get help. It is 1-800-495-1211.
All contributions to the United Way for this campaign will be used in the immediate area of Madison, Rappahannock, Greene, Culpeper, Orange and Fauquier counties for flood relief only and will not be used for overhead expenses, Ms. Roberts reported.
