To the Editor:
I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the people affiliated with the Rappahannock Athletic Association for their generosity and hard work exhibited the past week or so hosting the 13-year old District V Babe Ruth Tournament.
All of these people have demonstrated what Babe Ruth Baseball is all about. The hard work that goes into hosting a tournament was demonstrated by everyone involved. My hat goes off to the President, Mr. Dennis Fairbrother, Mr. Denny O’Neill, my assistance and Tournament Director, the folks in the concession stand, the umpires’who did a really good job of keeping the games going, the field crews and so on.
One must also remember that all of this was done during a time of devastation during the recent floods — they never forgot the tournament that had to be played.
I can’t forget a lady by the name of Gail who supplied me with a plate dinner July 4th at Madison with fried chicken. It was great, Gail. I’ll look you up again some time.
I do not know all of the people’s names involved, but you know who you are, and my sincere thanks goes out to all of you and 1 look forward to seeing you again in the future.
