Volunteers
Thanked
To the Editor:
The annual Fourth of July Celebration in Washington was a huge success and we want to thank you, the community, and the dozens of volunteers, for making it one of the most memorable ever.
A special thanks goes to those volunteers on the various committeeswho worked tirelessly to insure that this year’s celebration measured up of those of years past. We would be remiss if we did not note especially the volunteers on the committees which organized the vendors, publicity, parking, fireworks, and last by not least, the logistics.
We can’t name each individual because the list is over one hundred persons, but you know who you are and how much the community appreciates all that you contributed.
We also want to thank the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department for its special assistance throughout the day, as well as all those who made donations of materials and financial contributions to the events. Of course, the highlight of the festivities — the spectacular fireworks display — would not have been possible without the generosity of William Carrigan, who graciously allows us to hold the various entertainment events and fireworks display on his beautiful Avon Hall estate.
