It would seem that your writer had never set food inside Randolph Clater’s Sperryville Corner Store, which has been in business for many years in the very same village to which the Mountainside Market has only recently moved.
Whereas Mountainside rates highly as a gourmet, “health-food” store, I give the Corner Store equally high marks as an “honest-to-goodness grocery store.” For the “meat and potatoes” man, woman, or child, Randolph Clater has what you’re looking for. Come to think of it, I don’t believe Mountainside sells either meat or potatoes.
These two stores complement each other. They overlap here and there, no doubt, but we are fortunate to have them both, whatever “honestto-goodness” sorts of stores they are.
