High Places Orchards, which is located at 121 Winesap Lane, the second left hand turn off Route 662 in Huntly, going east, offers a pickyour-own business and also sells a lot to roadside stands and to fanners’ markets in Northern Virgihia. At the pick-your-own, the Streapys encourage customers to pick the best and biggest of the crop, and also to go ahead and mix and match varieties. They also provide containers, either bags or boxes, for the pickers and invite visitors to stay and have a picnic if they wish.
Most visitors to the orchard learn about the place by word of mouth. The only, advertising the Streapys do is in the Sheriffs Office calendar. “We have people come from all over Northern Virginia and Maryland,” said Major Streapy. “We try to give high quality fruit for a fair price,” headded. Call the Streapys at 635-5537 for availability of peaches now and apples later on in the season. Their pick-your-own operation is open on weekends and evenings during the week. . \
