The second question forced people at the meeting to ponder what, if anything, they would like to see added to the village.
Residents’ answers ranged from more small commercial enterprises, bike trails, an answer to the growing parking problem, to a solution to the sewage issue. Also mentioned was a book store and a grocery store. To some though this seems to be asking a bit much.
“I think we have to be really careful what we ask for because that is going to be a determinant for the character of the town and how large it grows,” said Elaine Viguerie, town reisdent.
“We say that we have to have a grocery store, another theater, a book store. These things are nice and perhaps we can (have them) if individuals choose to put them in the town. But, if we say this is what we have to have that in effect says we can’t be the small town we’re looking for,” she said.
“Small towns, by their nature, can’t provide you with the things that a larger town can provide you with. I think we have to say if we want to stay small then we have to do without certain things and if we want to grow larger then we can have them,” she said.
Mrs. Weinberg felt somewhat differently, “You mentioned something like a big grocery store and I think it’s very reasonable to say if you 'have a grocery store then you are going to have to have a population base. But I should think that something that we
