The Monarchs held out for a 16-13 win by executing their offense on Sunday. The Monarchs outbatted the Badgers 19-9.
Rappahannock trailed the Badgers by a score of 0-1 for the first two innings. Rappahannock’s catcher G. Ward led off the third inning with a single. J. Brown came to bat with a double to advance D. Clanagan (courtesy runner) to third. F. Clanagan advanced to first base by a walk making bases loaded for R. Harris to sacrifice the first out and tie the score 1-1.
W. Parker singled to score a run, along With B. Miller’s sacrifice fly to left field to make the score 3-1. In the fourth, B. Hackley came up just shy of a homer and settled for a double, only to see S. Frye come to the plate, and hit a two run homer. In the sixth Rappahannock added four more runs, including another two run homer by S. Frye. Due to a lack of Badger’s defense in the eighth inning, Rappahannock scored three for a tie 12-12.
