Hager served as Chairman of the Virginia Health Care Foundation, President of the Children's Hospital, President of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and has served on the boards of more than thirty other organizations geared towards improving the quality of life in Virginia.
Hager, dubbed "Marathon Man" by his supporters, has won many first place medals in wheelchair marathons and has a reputation of being everywhere.
