Pastor Alpheus Snead Atkins, Jr. was called to Woodville Baptist Church by majority vote of its members and assumed full duties on June 1, 1997. ^
This action followed the announcement to retire by the beloved Rev. and Mrs. L. Starke Jones of Woodville. Rev. Jones, fondly addressed as “Starke” by the congregation, retired from Woodville on June 30, 1997 following devoted and effective service there for nine years and three months.
Alpheus Atkins, who had lived in Woodville as a child, served as supply preacher on numerous occasions at the request of the pulpit committee, and quickly earned the approval of the majority of members as a solid, Godly man, who has an earnest desire to serve and preach the good news about Jesus Christ.
Pastor Atkins is an ordained minister, and a recent graduate of the Liberty Bible Institute, Lynchburg where he earned his Graduate of Theology Degree. He is an 1986 graduate of Culpeper High School, and works as a skilled carpenter in addition to his position at the Woodville Baptist Church.
