Annual book
sale a success

The Friends of the Library netted $2400 for the Rappahannock Library at their annual book sale.
Librarian David Shaffer reported to the Library Board at its meeting last week that the sale was a great success and they managed to up last year’s total by $300.
He said a lot of credit goes to Lois Snead who organized the event.
The Friends also got the basement cleaned out, and board chair Roberta Anderson said it looks great. The Friends had purchased five new bookcases to put in the basement. The shelves have been categorized and books for future sales will be put in order as they come in.
The Summer Reading program has also been a big success this year Mr. Shaffer said. About 70 children participated and story times and programs have been well attended. The last program will be on Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. and will feature “Puppets With Pizzazz.”
Mr. Shaffer said Stella Clark and Ellen Pullen have done a wonderful job with the program this year.
The library received $100 from F&M Bank for the summer reading program, which brings total donations for the program to $425.
Mr. Shaffer reported that the subject project for the computers is almost complete. They are getting accurate results
