“For a county of this size, we’re way ahead (of many other communities),” Burke said.

Systems using aerial photography to create detailed maps were too expensive five years ago, so Washington Volunteer Company Fire Chief Roger Roach and Assistant Chief Ann Spieker designed another map-generating computer program for fire and rescue volunteers that enlarges neighborhoods and provides additional information.
