VDOT district resident engineer Bob Moore also commented on the public’s change in attitude. “Up to five years ago," he said, “people were glad to have us come in and do something to the road, but that has been changing. People are demanding earlier involvement in the process.”
Moore will be representing VDOT in a 7 p.m. meeting at the county library on Dec. 8. to address citizens’ concerns, discuss options, and answer questions about the Six Year Plan.
“There are no major road building plans for the county. But there is a certain amount of money in the pot, allocated to each county every year,” Estes said. “If Rappahannock doesn’t use its share, the public doesn't save any money. It goes to someone else. And paved roads are much cheaper and easier to maintain than gravel roads.”
