will offer old-fashioned Christmas wreaths made of freshly cut evergreens, beginning this weekend, Saturday, Dec.9 and Sunday, Dec. 10, and again on Dec. 16 and 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Quail Call Farms, 2.5 miles from U.S. 211 (on Route 642) Amissville. For homemakers who like to do some additional decorating with live greens, assortments of cut evergreens will also be available. Proceeds of the Christmas greens sale will go into the Garden Club Scholarship Fund. A short film depicting land use efforts and successes in Great Britain will be shown at the Dec. 8 meeting of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, Inc. The film on the English experience, entitled “A Future for the Past,” offers insights into how England has attempted to preserve its historic landmarks and green spaces in the face of expanding population and development pressures. The problem of wise growth management, long familiar to Britons, is a new concern to many parts of America, including Rappahannock County.
