received his masters degree in counseling in 1984 from the University of Hartford and a post masters educational specialist degree from James Madison University. On Jan. 1 he will have worked in the county for 10 years.
Rafala’s wife, Cynthia, is a counselor in private practice. They have two small sons and live south of Boston in Culpeper County. He is an avid back-packer who takes his boys car camping now that they are 2- and 4-years-old, but they will soon be scampering up Old Rag with him.
The functions of the guidance center are extensive and designed to help everyone who needs mental health counseling and mental retardation and substance abuse services. Rafala can inform the audience on the extent to which his profession functions are needed in Rappahannock. The audience will be able to question and discuss with the speakers concerns about both volunteering and using the services administered by McNear and Rafala.
