Two people were injured last Tuesday, as a result of what tnay be brake failure, in a car accident on Route 729. A 17-year-old female driver was unable to stop her vehicle and ran an intersection on Route 729 causing her car to collide with an oncoming vehicle.
According to a report by Virginia State Trooper S.M. Knick, the 17-year-old was driving a 1986 Honda and was trying to stop at Route 622 off Route 729 when her brakes apparently failed and she continued into the road. A 1985 Dodge van driven by Marlina Lee, 30, of Castleton was coming down Route 729 and it struck the other vehicle in the driver side door.
The 17-year-old and a passenger in the van, Girtha Grigsby, 79, were injured and transported from the scene to Fauquier Hospital where they were later released. All the women were wearing seat belts. Charges in the incident are pending.
Trooper C.A. Moore investigated an accident on Feb. 1 at Burke’s Store, near Route 618. At 6:09 p.m. Abdurhman Karagoz, 37, of Clifton, N.J. was in the parking lot of the store heading to his car when another vehicle ran off the road and crossed the parking lot hitting him.
