with this position understand that those who oppose the death penalty feel the same revulsion for such evil deeds. This writer is a practicing lawyer, with over 20 years of experience representing criminal defendants. This experience has resulted in the following strong convictions: A person who has committed those acts for which the death penalty is currently given should be absolutely prevented from ever committing those acts again, even if it means he or she never takes another free step; a person who commits a felony with a firearm or some other deadly weapon, should receive an additional jail sentence of no less than five years — added to the sentence given for the crime itself — none of which time could be suspended; while observing that our approach to the drug problem is inefficient and ineffective, and that new approaches for prevention and treatment should be considered, this writer is absolutely opposed to the use of drugs whose only purpose is to quickly and drastically alter a person’s sense of reality, including
