marijuana along with harder drugs such as cocaine, heroin, LSD, amphetamines, and the like; there should be substantial incarceration for those persons, minors or adults, who give or sell drugs to our children, especially within our schools; the test for releasing repeat offenders, and the criminally insane, back into our society should be even stricter than it is presently; and terrorism (from within or without) resulting in death, being an act of war upon all of society, should result in mandatory life sentences, without possibility of parole. (I am no bleeding heart, liberal though I may be.)

The Supreme Court has ruled that the death penalty, when properly given, does not constitute “cruel and unusual punishment” as prohibited under our Constitution. This writer agrees. But, the fact that we can do something does not mean that we should do it. Just as we have become wise enough to decide, years after our Constitution was written, that all races and genders are equal in the eyes of the law, we need to move beyond the idea
