It was a win-win situation for the Rappahannock High School boys basketball teams Friday as they trounced Manassas Park 79/62 and 32/28 for varsity and junior varsity respectively.
The varsity’s high scorer was Jason Baldwin who had almost a third of the total points with 25. Daniel Settle was right behind him with 24. Ervin Phillips also played well and had 14 points.
Coach Eugene Baltimore said Phillips was probably high rebounder although all the players did well in that area. He said Phillips has generally been high rebounder all season.
The Panthers built an early lead against Manassas Park and by halftime the score was 48/31. Baltimore said the team played better than he had expected and they’re looking forward to the district tournament.
They did not fare as well last night when they played Brentsville at home for first place in the district, losing 58/53.
