From left Helen Ralston, Judy Tole and Quita Parrish with some of the handmade arrangements which will be for sale at this weekend’s 42nd annual House Tour and Dried Flower Sale presented by the women of Washington’s Trinity Episcopal Church. The tour takes place Oct. 17 and 18 and includes three stately residences and a tea to be held at the Middleton Inn in Washington, Va. Tour tickets, on sale at the church and on each day of the tour, are $15 for the block of three or $5 for single houses. The tour hours are Saturday, J1 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets include entitlement to the tea which will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. each day. An important feature of the event is the opportunity to purchase the beautiful arrangements of dried flowers painstakingly prepared by the churchwomen. This year, in the Quiet Place across from the church, the Garden Guild’s harvest sale will offer local preserves and fall plantings. In an ecumenical exchange, Baptist Church members will offer ham biscuits, soup, hot dogs and hamburgers in Trinity's churchyard. Also, the Historical Society and Museum, down Gay Street from the church, will be open during the tour hours with exhibits on the historic background of the county and America’s first Washington.
