Internationally recognized Nashville songwriter and singer Beth Chapman will appear on Oct. 30 at the Theatre, along with Paul Reisler and Steve Seskin. The evening, billed as “An Evening with the Muses,” promises to be a source of inspiration for the audience.
Chapman, a candid and verbally gifted songwriter, spoke about her joy at being able have a career in something she enjoyed so much. She called songwriting, first and foremost, her deepest form of therapy. During the performance she said she would give some of the background for her songwriting. Her songs are ultimately her personal feelings and her most recent . album, Sand and Water, concerns her recovering from her grief after her husband Ernest died in 1994.
“The only time I could connect to my grief was when I was writing songs...I became aware of a powerful essence of grace which seemed to override even my sadness,” she said. Elton John has used the title track of Chapman’s album to replace “Candle in the Wind,” as a tribute to Princess Diana
