In addition to having to be able to ride a galloping horse crosscountry over challenging obstacles, a foxhunter requires a talented, well-trained horse, a series of expensive uniforms and equipment, not to mention considerable free time.
Rappahannock meets three times a week throughout the season which opens with “cubbing” in the fall (held over Labor Day weekend this year) and continues into the more formal winter season. As Master, LeHew takes the field almost every time the hounds go off. Last year, the hounds went out 62 times.
