Beekeepers to meet
The Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association will hold its October meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Culpeper Cooperative Extension Service building at the corner of Davis Street and South West Street in Culpeper. From 6:45 until 7:30 p.m. there will be a Beginning Beekeeper Session. The regular program will be: preparations for winter. For more information contact Kevin Lusford at 439-0743.
Benefit dance planned
A benefit dance for Southern Persuasion will held on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Flint Hill Fire Hall from 9:30 p.m. until. Costumes are welcome. For more information call Connie Huff-Harris at 675-3389.
Fundraiser underway
The Rappahannock County High School Athletic Boosters are beginning their main fundraiser of the year. For a donation of $20 you could win the grand prize of $1,000; second place $750 and third place $250. Prizes will be given away at the Dec. 18 boy’s varsity basketball game. You do not need to be present to win. Proceeds benefit the athletes and the athletic department. “There are only 200 tickets available, so get yours now,” said an organizer.
Halloween dance scheduled
The Sperryville Fire Department Auxiliary will be having a Halloween dance on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be a costume contest and costumes are optional. Music will be provided by the D.J. Connection. Tickets are $10 per person. You must purchase your tickets in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. No one under 21 will be allowed. Flu shots scheduled
The following dates have been set for flu shots at the Rappahannock County Health Department: Friday, Oct. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m.; Thursday, Oct. 22 from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday Oct. 26 from 11 to 12 noon. The Oct. 26 date will be at the senior site. Cost is $10 and shots will be given at the Rappahannock Health Department at 491-A Main Street in Washington. For more information call 675-3516.
Apple Harvest festival set
An Apple Harvest festival will be held Oct. 17 and 18 at Graves Mountain Lodge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. There will be food, entertainment, crafts, and fun for all.

Open houses at Oasis Winery
