RLEP meeting planned
The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection will hold its annual meeting at the Washington fire hall on Nov. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served, informative displays will be on view, and interesting presentations are scheduled.
Historical Society to meet
The Rappahannock Historical Society will meet on Sunday, Nov 1 at 3 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library community room. The speaker will be Douglas Baumgardner. The topic of discussion will be Rappahannock County's Criminal justice system and the 1859 Johnson murder trial. Refreshments will follow the discussion, All are welcome.
Halloween party at Amissville
Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will be holding a Halloween party for all children on Friday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the fire hall. Costumes will be judged. There will tots of games, etc. Refreshments will be provided. The event is free to the public.
Civil War author’s tueekend set
Cray Ghost Vineyards is pleased to announce a Cavil War author s weekend to be held at the winery in Amissville. The event will take plat e Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Authors will be selling and autographing their hooks on various Civil War topics. Admission is free. Homes, families needed
Volunteer Emergency Families For Children (VEFC) needs people to provide short term emergence shelter in their homes to local children that have been victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or are at risk of abuse. Placements are from 1-21 days and volunteers can choose the age, sex and length of serviced to the child. VF.FC is a state wide non-profit organization that recruits volunteers to provide shelter to children in crisis. They are currently in the process of starting a program in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties. For additional information call 1-800-756-6167.
