Another problem area is the definition of a repair shop which is defined by the type of building it is to be and not by the type of business. McCarthy termed it a very broad definition. “It is a special permit use and as such would require the commission’s and Board of Zoning Appeal’s approval so that does give the commission and BZA a hook,” he said. He said the definition should probably include something about the number of employees allowed for the business such as is the case for professional offices and home occupation businesses.
