Restoring the ‘68 Mustang was the first automobile project he had undertaken in 30 years.
Now that the work is done, Stensney plans to keep the car.
“I told my sons, that the car can’t be sold, just passed on to the grandchildren,” he said. But there was another reason for not selling, besides sentiment. “I’d never get my money out of it ... not even for the labor.”
Since finishing the Mustang, Stensney has enjoyed showing it off. He has taken the car to several local shows, including Horseless Carriage Day in Warrenton, the Piedmont Environmental Council’s family day at Airlie, the Warrenton Fire Company’s annual Car and Truck Show, the Woodville Bicentennial, and the usual Sunday evening get-together at the Shoney’s in Warrenton.
The venues may be different, but everywhere he goes, Stensney is proud to tell the story of his custom classic pony car.
