When the family car is on the blink, drivers want it to be fixed fast, and for a fair price.
For women, dealing with a garage can be especially intimidating sometimes. Many woman who don’t have much practical knowledge about cars fear they won’t be respected or listened to, but local mechanics are sensitive to those fears.
“You have your radar up to see if you feel your concerns are being considered seriously,” said Nina McKee. McKee, an accountant and member of the Fauquier Business and Professional Women, stressed the need to feel comfortable about the service you receive at a garage.
Ivan Tabor, owner of Broadview Auto and Service, feels garages have changed in response to the needs of customers of both genders but especially women. In the past a husband was most likely making the decisions about car repair but now more and more women are making the decisions about when and how much to spend on car repair.
