Since his appointment to the board of supervisors he has consistently searched out the opinions and ideas of his constituency. It has not been uncommon for him to call on 40 or 50 people for their views on the particular issue at hand.
Furthermore, during the review of the county budget Mr. Welch really did his homework. He went to the superintendent of schools. He collected data from other counties. One teacher claimed he was the first board member she could remember sitting in on class sessions.
This kind of dedication to his political position is a “throw back” to an earlier time and should be rewarded with his election to the board of supervisors.
