As your readers know, five

constitutional amendments are proposed on our ballots, Nov. 3.

Number 1 is an amendment which I am pleased to have had placed on the ballot. It extends the voting franchise in Virginia to Virginians living overseas, most of whom are serving the American government in civilian capacities, but business people and others also are included. I would ask that you support this proposal.

Number 2 also has my support.

Numbers 3 and 4 would enable localities to create joint authorities for the purpose of economic development. They have the potential for taxation without representation and I strongly recommend that you oppose them.

Number 5 would enable localities to drop the BPOL and merchants’ taxes. Whatever reduces your tax rate gets my support.

Education for our children

is the cornerstone of our country and it starts right here in the county. We need Dr. Krebser on the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors. He understands what it means to get an education, either by college degree or training for a trade. He has experienced both avenues!

Let’s help him get elected.
