president, reported to the board on the fall workshop for Virginia' libraries which he and board member Helen Platt attended. Platt said she was very surprised that although the issue of censor ship came up, as it relates to specific books, they didn't touch more on the issue of censorship and public access to the Internet.
Warner reported that a new stone has been ordered for the plaque near the flagpole and the plaque was removed from the old one.
In the treasurer’s report Platt reported that the state increased its appropriations for book purchases. Shaffer noted that use of those funds would be no problem.
The board will not meet in November due to the Thanksgiving holiday and will meet next on Dec. 10.
