animal was a panther or large cougar.

They told us the large animals do cross the mountains once in a while —perhaps more often than we realize.

We never heard the animal again, maybe because we have never blocked his way again or perhaps he was just passing through.

I do know we created a memory that night, and it reminds me that we are living in the animal’s habitat, and that we have to be aware of this.

I also turn on the lights now when I go out after dark.
