In the "old days" when soap and water weren't as plentiful and accessible, the bath was a weekly occurrence, usually on Saturday night in the old washtub. It erased the grime of the previous week, but that could only last for so long, for the rest of the week bathing was just "a lick and a promise." As time passed, bathing has become more frequent and elegant. Tubs come in a variety of materials, sizes and styles. The bath has progressed from a weekly necessity to a daily experience, complete with scented candles, leaving one feeling tranquil and refreshed after an exhausting day. Do we give the same attention to our spiritual cleansing? We may be cheating ourselves of that blissful tranquility provided by a refreshed spirit. Worship regularly in Cod's House, and visit Him in daily prayer. Your soul deserves more than "a lick and a promise."
