Students from Rappahannock County Elementary School, Spots wood High School in Penn Laird, Thomas Harrison Middle School in Harrisonburg and Steward Middle School in Fort Defiance won WVPT’s third annual Young Environmentalist Award contest.
Shenandoah Spring Water in Staunton partnered with WVPT in rewarding local students who researched environmental issues and then offered solutions to reverse environmental decline.
Students from the Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont region of Virginia were invited to contribute entries centered around the topic “Groundwater: The Circle of Life.” The contest was conducted for four levels: Grade 12; Grades 9-11; Grades 6^8 and Grades K-5.
The K-5 level winning entry was submitted by Ben Andrew Rupchis, a fifth grader at Rappahannock County
