Shelvy Frazier of Castleton Ford Road was honored with a surprise party given by his family on Saturday afternoon at the Salem fire hall in celebration of his 80th birthday.
His sister, Marie, had compiled a story entitled “This is or was your Life” which was greatly enjoyed by all.
His daughter, Janet presented a “show and tell” time, when she showed his infant white gown that was used in a dedication ceremony, made by his late grandmother, Mrs. Jenny Frazier. The beautiful white gown showed signs of age.
Relatives from a distance attending were his niece, Mrs. Patricia Knick of Mechanicsville, Md.; cousins, Mrs. Edna Mae Denin of Edgewater, Md., Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kelchner and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Dodson of Winchester and were joined here by a large host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Barbara Tharp, a close friend of the family made the beautiful birthday cake. Lots of food and an enjoyable time was had by all present.
Mr. Frazier is the oldest child of the late Ray and Lizzie Frazier. In addition to his sister, he has a brother, Ray Frazier Jr. Three brothers and a sister are deceased.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Willie Dennis of Scrabble Road, who passed away Tuesday at his home\ at the age of 91.
